Ski Day-Recap 3.16.24

There were 60+ Silver Hares on the trail and almost 40 at our Après ski for our 14th Saturday gathering.

A pretty solid showing for a time of season when the bikes start calling for your attention. On that subject, we have only 2 weeks left in our Silver Hares season and I would not be inclined to sacrifice a ski day with so few XC ski days remaining and all the XC trails still good to go… but that’s just me!

Ok so now you all know what California XC skiing is all about, sunny blue sky, no wind at all, sun screen and eye protection a must, one layer clothing, long sleeves in case a fall on abrasive transformed snow.

Nobody has it better than us here at SilverStar!

Swing Dance Class- Huge Success!

Saturday’s Swing Dance Lesson was a blast for all 25 of us! Everyone looked to be having a great time from all the laughter and kidding around, this coming from someone not at all comfortable going into the evening. Turns out if you think of it as learning any sport, which is more or less how our instructors- Jens and Heather presented the lesson- it becomes not at all intimidating. We would learn a movement, practice that movement, add another movement and another then put them together and voila we can now call it a dance. Finally, after we had some comfort with the movements the music was added. For sure the Silver Hares will do this again.

Thank you Jens and Heather for doing a great job entertaining everyone and making us all feel comfortable.  Alex and Elaine, thank you for hosting our evening and Barb B. for the idea in the first place.

Last Silver Hare group ski - Let's have some extra fun!

March 30th our last ski for the season, lets make it a session to remember, dress in retro clothing / gear any and all costumes welcome, get a little silly even.

If you don’t have any thing to dress up in there are a couple second hand stores in town, I’ve got some great $5 Hawaiian shirts there or go to Amazon, lots of fun costumes there.

Leader Appreciation Dinner & Social Windup March 27th

As of Friday, we are at 53 reservations and have room for 100+ more.  Those of you attending when you arrive simply order you food so we don’t overwhelm the kitchen with all our orders coming to them at the same time.

We’d love to see us fill the place for an evening of good food and socializing so please consider joining us, the more the merrier!  Make your reservations at: Black Pine Restaurant | TouchBistro Dine Restaurant Reservations (tbdine.com) If you have trouble reserving online call the restaurant and ask for Kat, she can take your reservation or just leave a note for her with whomever is there.

Beth is helping to lead the volunteer leader appreciation effort you can contact her at: bmacdonald00@gmail.com

Even if you can’t come to the dinner, help show the volunteer leaders some love by sending an appreciate note to Beth or myself.
