Wow, 80+ ( some arrived late after our briefing ) Silver Hares and 30+ at our Black Pine  Après cuppa, we are doing something right eh . A nod to all of you and especially the volunteer leaders. 

There is one story  from today that illustrates the above and beyond dedication of our volunteer leaders.   

 

Hero of the Day!

 

Doug Geller, Silver Hares leader and Mtn. Host , was to help lead today but was missing at our leader briefing so we thought he would be unable to join us today. Well here is what was happening, Doug was unable to find parking at SS  sooo he drove to Sovereign to park his vehicle then skied over to SilverStar up Gold Mtn Trail took the gondola up skied till he found a Silver Hares group and joined in.  

That is dedication and commitment that deserves recognition eh

 

Soft temps, no wind, great classic tracks , a little soft skate tracks but from reports very nice glide.  

Lots of people like to take pictures and I like to use them in these emails,  Silver Hares Facebook page and soon our website. If you do not wish to be in a picture or have one posted with you in a picture lease let us know. We will always do our best to present everyone in the best possible way.  

Parking Dilemma

 

A thought on parking to consider. When we have lots of fresh snow (powder) expect parking to be an issue. With lots fresh snow the powder hounds come out and who can not appreciate that. Maybe under those circumstances come a bit earlier and or as you get to know each other perhaps suggest car pooling as a possibility.

Chocolate Tasting

 

A rough schedule for our wine tasting chocolate making dinner; 5pm-5:30  intros & chocolate making demo, 5:30 on dinner and wine tasting. Chocolate will have cured by the time we get to the port after dinner.

Barb will take about 5 min. to introduce each wine and share her knowledge with us. She will do this for each of the 5 wines presented during the evening. Each pour will be about 2.5 oz.   A thought , the Vance Creek Hotel is right there attached to the restaurant so if you think you might not want to drive back down the Mtn at evenings end maybe consider check room availability for that night ahead of time

We will have a sign up sheet for those interested in a chocolate making class . This will help us determine if we should move forward with organizing same.
