Recap of 2.10.24

Another great session, what a beautiful day on the trails, amazing conditions and awesome ski buddies. We are so fortunate to be able to live & play here in this place and enjoy such a vibrant xc ski community.

I’m not really sure how many skiers we had but about 40 showed up at the Black Pine for our Apres ski and I know not all of the Silver Hares were able to attend so I’ll say 50ish + skiers for the day maybe.

Kelowna Nordic Day Trip

There was a pretty good contingent  (at least 18 according to reports) of Silver Hares that traveled to Kelowna Nordic for the Hospital cardiac unit fund raiser. A shout out to that traveling band of Hares gang for supporting a good cause and representing the Hare

Wednesday Silver Hare Skis

We will begin February 14th, 10am meet next to Red Antler. I will be there and help get things started and likely ski as well. There were 18 Hares that answered “yes” to the question about adding an extra day and 35 said ” sometimes”.

This will be an opportunity to further realize our primary reason for being, that is to “Connect the XC Community”. The reason I say this is that there will likely not be regular leaders expected and so you will have to get to know each other and organize yourselves.

The 3 Silver Hares requirements are still expected to be honored as long as it’s are a Silver Hares activity.

  • Have a valid ski pass/day pass
  • Have a signed a waiver
  • Be able to ski the Meadow/ Bridle trail loop comfortably and in a reasonable time.

Waivers are to protect us all.

Chocolate Making

We still have a couple spots open in our Chocolate Making classes, first class this coming Friday, February 16th and the second class Friday, February 23rd starting at 6pm.
Let Pat know if interested and he will provide details.

Here is an interesting article that Amy Philipson has shared:

New Silver Hares

We continue to grow, every day we seem to get requests to join the Hares. It is very gratifying to see how we are being received in the community. We are well past 220 Silver Hares skiers at this point. In fairness there are maybe 40-50 that have not yet skied with us for various reasons. A pleasantly surprising number of skiers are visiting friends from local Silver Hares who live out of the area . Seems like we have a few of those not local skiers each session.

March 30- Last Hares Session

The question has come up, ” When will our last session for the season be ? ” Soooo am thinking March 30th, this would give us 16 Saturday sessions and 7 Wednesday session in this our inaugural season.
