Ski Day-Recap 2.24.24

Another solid turnout of 40-50 Silver Hares for our Ski and almost 30 for our Après Social at the Black Pine. The day was overcast with very mild temps. There was definitely a breeze when out in the open but once within the protection of the trees it was calm as could be.

The 4 centimeters of fresh snow overnight was just enough to make the trail feel like smooth butter under the skis.

Toques & Headbands

It is really super to see so many of you wearing your Silver Hares Toques and Headbands! There have been requests for ordering additional pieces and we will do so as soon as we reach the minimum order of 12, we are currently at 7 pieces.
Here is the link to order.  Silver Hare Toque order #2 – Google Forms

Wednesday Ski

Last Wednesday Silver Hares session was lightly attended with less than 20 Silver Hares. All had a good ski and a few joined in for the Après cuppa which is really turning into a lunch for most of us.

Swing Dance Class

Our next focus for Silver Hares non ski social activity is our Swing Dance lesson on March 16th. Boys don’t be scared, ok maybe a little scared, go for it and do it anyways Emoji

You do not need to bring a dance partner, there are at least 4 experienced Silver hares dancers available to partner up, Alex, Elaine, Michelle and Brett plus one of the lead instructors. If you have interest let me know and I’ll fill you in on the particulars.

First Season Wrap-Up

The Silver Hares inaugural season wrap-up/ evening social is Wednesday March 27th at the Black Pine.  For those joining please make a reservation in the name of “Silver Hares” at the Black Pine, March 27, 5:30 – 8 :30 . People will pay for their own food and drinks. It would be awesome if we could “take over” the restaurant for the evening, it may happen… we have the numbers! Emoji

This would be a great opportunity for the Silver Hares to thank the leaders for sharing of themselves these months to make our program so successful.

Chocolate Making

Last night’s Silver Hares Chocolate making class was another success. Thank you John P. for your instruction and entertaining us and thank you Frank for hosting the Silver Hares at Bugaboos.

In other news....

Rob Henderson, Silver Hares Leader, has a request. Rob is a course director for a couple Nordic instructor courses coming up soon. You would be real students for the instructor candidates so that their teaching skills can be tested.
On Saturday March 2nd he is looking for newer, entry level skiers and on Sunday March 10th he is looking for more intermediate skiers. Both sessions are classic from 10-11:30 and skate from 1:30 – 2:30. If interested is helping, please contact Rob at:   robhendersonskiguy@gmail.com

Next Ski: Wednesday Feb. 28th

Our next session is this coming Wednesday the 28th , we meet as usual 10am next to Red Antler.

There will be fewer leaders like last Wednesday  so some groups will be self led.

I will again be there to help organize and ski with you. See you soon!
