Ski Day-Recap 3.2.24

In this, the end of our 3rd month, the recap is the same sweet song, “Another successful session” , so a pretty good song eh

Grooming on both the SilverStar side and Sovereign side was excellent, temps mild, winds negligible, very light snowfall at session end and overcast sky.

Apres Ski at the Black Pine

We were a bit over 30 skiers at our Black Pine Après ski.

S2S

The S2S has become the 3rd largest XC Loppet in Canada. This accomplishment thanks to the volunteers stepping up to host this event and represent our thriving XC community. Sooo a huge THANK YOU to all of those Silver Hares volunteering again this year to allow us to put on another S2S in 2024. Remember, volunteers skiing in the S2S receive a volunteer reg. discount, contact me personally to receive this code.

Now the ask which you knew was coming, WE NEED MORE VOLUNTEERS

If you have interest to join, you can contact me personally as Chief of S2S Vollie’s or contact Cyndy who handles all the volunteer software to enter you into the schedule or simply go directly to the link and enter yourself Sovereign2SilverStar – Volunteer. Volunteer shifts are generally anywhere from 2 – 6 hours, you will receive some swag, a Toque as well as food and then there is the Volunteer Social on Sunday afternoon in the Chilcoot and more food

Swing Dance Class

We are a go for this fun evening. We have the Chilcoot center from 5-8pm on Saturday the 16th. There will be two 45 minute sessions with a break in between. We will have 5 dance partners available for those joining without bringing a partner. Cost is $35 per person to cover the Instructors and the room. You will need to bring leather soled shoes to put on due to the carpet, rubber soled shoes wont slide , not even a little bit

Those wishing to attend and not yet on the list you need to let me know so we can include you in the forthcoming emails to that group only.

Silver Hares Season Wrap Up Social - March 27th

March 27th, Black Pine Social drinks/ socializing 5pm-6pm with Dinner 6pm

Please make your reservations under the name, ” Silver Hares “.

This will likely be the best opportunity to thank your volunteer leaders and see each other before next season, at least for many of you.

It would be really awesome for you all to be able to join us for a lovely gathering, our last chance to get all of you together this season.

Recognizing Silver Hares

Once again thank you to our band of volunteer leaders for making Silver Hares possible. Some Hares go above and beyond!

You all have to know Alex has a lot of things going on volunteering in the xc community, Treasurer on the Sovereign Board of Directors, Chief of Marshals for S2S , Leader for Silver Hares, Main guy for our Swing Dance Lesson evening. Turns out that when he was halfway up the Mtn. to join us he remembered he’d forgot his boots so mad dash back to the house to retrieve those boots, drive back up & find a very late parking spot and he still made it in time to lead… now that is real commitment

In other news....A Retro Ski

How about A retro session

Old ski gear, old ski clothing, we have some great fun, laugh at each other a bit, get some pictures, turn some heads dressing up in whatever old stuff we have or can get ( we can help a few with some old skis / poles )

We form a Retro group for one of our regularly scheduled Saturdays (not many left ) and we do a very easy ski in that old kit, heck I might just do laps in the village though probably go on Meadow some.

Anyone interested in joining Dave Wild and me please let me know. Dave and I are doing this for sure just so you know, maybe one of us lost a bet heheheh

I can already feel that old wool start to itch a little

Next Ski: Wednesday March 6th

Our next session is this coming Wednesday the 6th, we meet as usual 10am next to Red Antler.

There will be fewer leaders like last Wednesday so some groups will be self led.

I will again be there to help organize and ski with you. See you soon!
